Think of it as a soft squishy jelly doughnut. The cell membrane has a liquid substance inside. Everything that is in this cell membrane stays in there. There are hole in this Membrane that let stuff go in and out through this cell. It doesn't let any bad thing in. It also keeps the good stuff in.
