Neucleus

The nucleus is like the boss of the cell. And or acts like your brain any way that you want to think of it. you know the way we eat it controls how the plant or animal eats as well. If something happens in the cell the nucleus probably would about it.
And if you think the nucleus is always in the middle of the cell you would be wrong.
It can go different places as well not just one place.

"It would be a big dark spot somewhere in the middle of all the cytoplasm."

It won't be near the edge of the cell if you look there you probably won't find it. It would be mighty dangerous for it to be there sitting at the edge if you don't remember the cytoplasm it the fluid that fills the cell to make it stay up like a skeleton.
If you also think that all cells have nucleus's you are wrong. Not all cells have them. If you didn't know you don't really need a nucleus to have DNA.

"If you don't have a defined nucleus, your DNA is probably floating around the cell in a region called the nucleoid. A defined nucleus that holds the genetic code is an advanced feature in a cell."
Did you know that there is a nuclear envelope? Well there is and it surrounds the nucleus. Every thing that is in the nucleus or out it surrounds it. That means if there is things floating around the nucleus that envelope would surround it.
